Level 1:PCM Practitioner (2 days)
Primarily for people who want to know about or are indirectly involved in the design (identification and formulation) of development projects / integrated programmes.
This course covers the basic PCM / LFA principles about how to do: situation analyses, objectives analyses, formulate a comprehensive programme comprising several projects managed by different parties in the form of a Logframe (project matrix). Focus is on key quality criteria such as ownership, impact and sustainability of results.
Group work and experiential exercises (using neuro-linguistic models and techniques) are important features of this course.
Certificates of participation will be provided. Course material: QAC Handouts with exercises and one case study.
Level 2:PCM Advanced Practitioner (3 days)
Primarily for people who are responsible for the management of development programmes and projects.
In this course you will be required to identify and formulate an integrated programme or single project using LFA/PCM -related methods, and prepare a detailed Logframe / project matrix. You will also assess the quality of project proposals on the basis of internationally accepted quality criteria.
Emphasis will be given to the values of stakeholders (people and institutions) as determinants of ownership, impact and sustainability of results. Experiential exercises using neuro-linguistic models and techniques are unique in this regard.
Certification will be given after participants have successfully applied the methods to develop 2 programmes / projects meeting quality standards.
Course material: Programme Cycle Management: ownership-oriented development, The QAC 2004; How to assess the quality of service proposals, UNIDO 1997, and QAC Handouts and Case Study.
Level 3:Techniques for moderation, training and leadership for the management of development co-operation PCM (5 days)
Primarily for people who want to become leaders, moderators and trainers of the management of development projects or of change management in business.
This course builds on the Advanced Practitioner level. It focuses on communication skills to have an impact on people’s attitude and behaviour towards change. The course covers the management of group inter-action in meetings or workshops and thinking in terms of systems. Neuro-linguistic models and techniques for effective communication will be used extensively to help you access people’s thinking and learning styles and enhance their ownership of the change / development process.
Certification will be given after completion of one training workshop at Advanced Practitioner level and the moderation of one workshop to identify and formulate integrated technical co-operation programmes. The basis for certification will be the evaluation by participants at these workshops and a review of workshop reports.
